In science we have been learning about Day and Night. We discussed how the sun is a light source and a heat source. We went onto the playground to draw around our shadows!

Paddington loved our newspaper reports that helped him find his case. He came to school to collect it and even left us a present. He left us some bread jars of marmalade to make our own marmalade sandwiches.

The children in Year 1 are becoming such independent learners - look at the amazing posters they created as a group to represent their learning about the 4 seasons ☀️🌧☃️🌈
London's burning, London's burning! We recreated The Great Fire of London, we created narrow streets and placed the houses close together and the fire spread very quickly, just like in London in 1666!
Team work is very important in Year 1! The children worked as a team to create these fantastic Tudor houses.

Year 1 had a surprise visit from Samuel Pepys - he told us all about The Great Fire of London!
In Science we have been learning about different materials - we went on a hunt around our school to see which materials we could find.
In history we have been comparing London in 1666 and London in the present day.
In RE we have learnt about Christianity and Judaism. We have discussed the main beliefs, religious symbols and religious places of worship. Look at these amazing pictures of a Jewish Synagogue!

We donated our left over party food to the Bassetlaw Food Bank. We discussed how this can help families who are less fortunate and all the amazing children were really proud of themselves for helping others.
Our Year 1 elves have been very busy making things for our Christmas Craft Fair!
We love working with Music Matt! This half term we have learnt some music notes and have been playing some Christmas songs
We have been learning about Poland. We learnt some traditional Polish dances, the story of The Dragon on Krakow, and lots of interesting facts about Poland.
This half term we are working with our dance teacher - Courtney! We have learnt lots of new stretches and dance moves.
To celebrate Remembrance Day we designed our own medals and created our own poppies on Purple Mash.
We are enjoying learning about Japan. We have even learnt how to say hello, and count to 10 in Japanese!
We have been learning about our local area. To find out about the history of Worksop we visited a local care home.
